Mindful Creatives started from a simple idea: that photography is most valuable when it’s doing something, not just looking good.
That idea didn’t come from a business plan. It came from a career that refused to stay in one lane, and a person who was never really built for surface-level thinking.
Lauren has been working in the creative industry since she was 19. The studio she runs now is the sum of everything that came before it: illustration, graphic design, brand work, print, photography, video, and animation, most of it self-taught, all of it connected.
That’s the foundation the studio is built on. Every project starts with the questions a brand director would ask: who is the audience, where does this image need to work, what does it need to say before someone reads a single word. The photography comes later, but it’s better for everything that came first.

MEET LAUREN EDMOND
The person behind the lens.
I’m Lauren, photographer, creative director, and set stylist. I’m also probably the most curious person about your business you’ve ever met.
I always wanted to be an illustrator. Before I could write properly, I was drawing cartoons, characters, and worlds. I studied art through school, went to TAFE to study graphic design and advertising, and fully expected to end up somewhere in that direction.
Instead, I landed a job as a marketing assistant at a boutique real estate studio. My role started in print ads and evolved quickly into shooting properties. I fell in love with it immediately. There was something about the camera that made sense to me in a way I hadn’t expected. I saved up and bought my own in my early twenties, and started shooting families on weekends, then weddings, then eventually commercial work.
For a long time, that’s how it worked. I held various admin roles to keep things stable, I was a single mum, making it work however I could, and freelanced on the side in the hours around everything else. It wasn’t a clean or linear path. But looking back, every part of it was building something.
Illustration never really left. I started taking commissions for children’s nurseries, selling illustration sets at local markets and on Facebook Marketplace, running that alongside the photography work. Eventually, illustration merged with my graphic design training, and I started taking on logo work. And because I genuinely can’t think about anything at surface level, logo work became brand work, identity systems, visual strategy, the whole thing.
My last employed role was in the print industry, which is where video found me. I started playing around with it, fell into animation, and felt that same click I’d felt the first time I picked up a camera. By the time I founded Mindful Creatives with my business partner and best friend in 2019, I had a toolkit that had taken nearly two decades to build, and I finally had a container that could actually use it all.
The studio has evolved since then. I run it solo now. But the skills are the same, and so is the approach: I am the photographer, the creative director, and the set stylist. Not because I’m trying to offer everything, but because that’s genuinely how my mind works, and it’s what makes my work different.
I work directly with every client, from the first conversation to the final gallery. When you book Mindful Creatives, you get me and everything I’ve spent the last eighteen years figuring out.

Studio Manager & Creative Assistant
I’ve been obsessed with all things creative for as long as I can remember.
When you step into the studio, I’ll be the one setting the scene, styling the perfect backdrop, tweaking wardrobe choices, and jumping in for those last-minute hair or makeup touch-ups. Basically? I’ve got your back, so you can show up, shine, and feel your best on shoot day.
When working with products, I am always finessing and cleaning dust and fingerprints, measuring out spaces and helping to refine every composition. Â
THE STUDIO SPACE

The studio is in Meadows, in the Adelaide Hills, about 45 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, and worth the drive. It’s a warm, considered space designed for the kind of photography we do: natural light, room to breathe, and an aesthetic that shows up in the work.
The studio is also available to hire. If you need a space for your own content shoot, it’s available by the day or half-day.
WHY ‘MINDFUL’?
It’s not a wellness statement. It’s a working principle.
Mindful, for us, means every project gets real thought before it gets momentum. It means we understand the brief before we respond to it, and we ask questions about your customer, your goals, and where these images need to show up before we think about how to shoot them.
It means being honest when a different approach would serve you better, and caring about how the work performs after the shoot day more than we care about how the shoot day felt. The images need to work. That’s the point.
That’s what mindful means here. Considered, intentional, honest, and always oriented towards the outcome.
